more information than you wanted about intimate huggabroomstik tomorrow

Hey, Party People.
Brook Pridemore here.
Since February 2009, I have had the good fortune of keeping time for
one of my favorite bands on the AFNY circuit.  A group that manages to
straddle psychedelia, classic rock, prog, folk and punk, while
managing to maintain its' own distinct sound, Huggabroomstik have been
around since like 1999, employing a revolving-door lineup that's
included forty or fifty (at various times) of the best New York
songwriters around.

Huggabroomstik have released five albums thus far, all of which whup a
cheetah's ass with a belt sander.  This Friday, October 23rd, I am
pleased to announce that Brooklyn Tea Party will play host to a
landmark event in the long, weird Huggahistory, when the band converge
on the BTP stage to record Intimate Huggabroomstik-the band's live
album of all new songs.

Take as a template Nighthawks at the Diner, Tom Waits' "live" album
that was actually a conceit: Waits and band were performing new
material in front of an invite-only audience.  Consider then the
members of Huggabroomstik your surrogate Waits, and you the fan a
member of the invite-only audience.

Consider this email your invitation.  And get your ass down here.

Here's the Details:
Intimate Huggabroomstik recording party
Friday October 23rd
Brooklyn Tea Party
175 Stockholm St. #303
L Train to Dekalb (or M to Central)
No cover, but bring a few bucks to throw in the hat.

Get here at 8 to "meet and greet" the band.
Recording starts at Ten SHARP.  Due to the nature of the performance,
the door will be locked at ten for the duration of the show, and the
doorbell will be disabled.  If you're not in the apartment at ten,
you're shit out of luck.

Look:  If the keyboard player's not onstage when we lock the door,
then no keyboard.  Sorry, keyboard player.  So be in here by ten.

We would like you to shout and sing along to the end of the new Hugga
classic, "O.U.R. 6."  Here's a tutorial video made by our own Neil
Kelly.

And also, a weird Muppets video that makes me think of Huggabroomstik.
We should probably be covering this song.

See you Friday!
